According
to the article, “Edward Snowden: Traitor or Hero?” ,by Patricia Smith, Edward
Snowden is a hero and a traitor in several ways. It explains Edward Snowden‘s tracks.
This
article is un-bias because it shows that some people think that he’s a traitor
and others think he’s a hero. It has become a controversy. In the article, it
says that,
Last summer, he leaked
details of the programs to journalists, reigniting a national debate about how
much privacy is worth sacrificing to prevent more terrorist attacks on the
United States. Civil liberties groups immediately hailed Snowden for revealing
what they say is government spying run amok.
As
you can see, this article is un-bias and is very informative. It says that “Civil
liberties groups immediately hailed Snowden for revealing what they say is
government spying run amok.” This shows that the public were considering as a
hero because if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t know that the government is
spying on us (citizens) and other world leaders. This is why some people
consider him as a hero.
“’
Bottom line for me is that he is responsible for the most damaging leaks in
U.S. intelligence history,” says John McLaughlin, a former acting C.I.A.
director.’ As you can see some people think that he’s a traitor because know
the whole world knows that the U.S. has collected records of phone calls and
has monitored the conversations of many world leaders. What Snowden said, made
the U.S. look bad. This is why some people think that he’s a traitor.
After reading this article, it made
me think how, he was a hero because if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t know that
the government is collecting our phone call records. However, he is also a traitor
because he revealed top secret information that the U.S. collected to prevent terrorist
attacks. It also got me thinking, how much can we really trust our government?
Has everything, the government said, been lies? I really like this article,
because it’s not bias, but it gets the reader thinking.
